Many people view aromatherapy as alternative medicine. This is because there is no medical or scientific backing for it. However, many people who have taken prescription medications for ailments, aches and pains, or even mental health issues suffer from the various side effects. Yet they find they can feel better with aromatherapy and not have those harsh side effects to contend with.
There are three major types of aromatherapy that you can use to feel better physically and improve your mood. The market is full of home aromatherapy products you can use. They come in the form of you burn or place into the bath. They also come in the form of candles.
Clinical aromatherapy takes place in an office setting or even in the form of a massage with various essential oils. The last type of aromatherapy is called aromachology, which is who various odors affect the brain. You also need to know the potency of a given essential oil before you use it. Some of them have been diluted and others are in their original form. This is going to play a very important role in how much of the essential oil you need to use at any given time. Generally you will use much less of a full strength essential oil than you will of on that has been diluted.
The use of aromatherapy continues to be on debate. You will find individuals who firmly belief it has helped them become more balanced and well. Others will tell you aromatherapy is nothing but a marketing ploy to sell various products that smell great. There is no evidence that using aromatherapy can be harmful to you, so you have nothing to lose by trying it and seeing what it can offer you personally.
With so many different essential to select from, it is very likely you will find several that you enjoy the smell of and how they make you feel. For the best results take an inventory of the physical and mental aspects you would like to improve. Then look for the essential that are known to help with those areas.
